The third division deputy commander Brig.Gen. Felix Busizoori has urged the sports fraternity and the general public in Moroto to engage in sporting activities as a means of fostering peace and unity in Karamoja sub-region.

Busizoori made the remarks as he officiated at the awarding ceremony of the Eid El Fitr cup finals held at the Boma grounds in Moroto municipality yesterday.

He argued that the region will attain socio-economic transformation as a result of the peace ushered in through sports.

The commander underscored the continuous support of the UPDF to sporting activities and other social corporate responsibilities, as a way of promoting the long-term strategic relationship with civilians.

On the other hand, Moroto district sports officer, Nelson Anying commended the UPDF for supporting sporting activities in the district and the region at large.

Anying encouraged all talented persons to get involved in games and sports disciplines, saying this will help to scout good players from the grassroot levels.

On his side, the chairman organizing committee, Imam Abdul Wahab thanked all the participating teams for the discipline exhibited during the tournament.

The winner of the tournament UPDF third division Green Stars FC was awarded a trophy, bull and golden medals while the second placed Al-Watan FC received two goats and silver medals and the third placed UPDF third division shooters FC was awarded a cash prize of 150,000 shillings.
