335 jerrycans of crude
waragi valued at over 85million shillings have been disposed off, after
impoundment by joint security forces in Karamoja and neighbouring districts.
According to
Karamoja police spokesperson, IP Mike Longole, the disposal of the deadly
liquor followed acquisition of two court orders from Nakapiripirit and Katakwi magistrates’
courts yesterday.
Longole says
the exercise was carried out in Nakapiripirit district where 205 jerrycans were
poured while 130 jerrycans were disposed of in Katakwi district.
The illicit
drink was impounded in Loregae-Namalu in Nakapiripirit district and other areas
of Katakwi during the Easter festive season.
A total of
4542 jerrycans out of the impounded 6370 jerrycans of waragi have been
destroyed so far from the onset of the anti-illicit waragi operation.
